Day 1 - Arrival in Tromsö - The Capital of the Arctic

When you arrive at Tromsö airport (TOS), get into Tromsö’s centre and to your hotel with the airport express transfer (included). The ride takes approximately 15 minutes and has a drop-off point close to all of our featured hotels.
Depending on your arrival time, spend the rest of the day strolling the city and discovering the lovely sights of Tromsö. City highlights include the Arctic Cathedral, Polar Museum, Polaria Aquarium, Arctic–Alpine Botanic Garden, Tromsö bridge and Nordnorsk Kunstmuseum, to name a few.
You also have the option to explore Tromsö on the Historial City Walk with an English-speaking local guide (optional). You’ll learn about the Arctic capital’s fascinating history.
For a good overview of Tromsö, we recommend climbing the 1200 stone steps up the Sherpa staircase or taking the cable car Fjellheisen up to Storsteinen mountain. The top view is excellent all year round. If you want to stay for dinner, Fjellstua restaurant on top offers dinner with beautiful scenery and delicious food.
Head back to Tromsö to dine at one of Tromso’s restaurants with many eateries specializing in fresh ingredients from the Arctic. Finish the day at one of the many drinking holes. If you are going to only one place, grab a local Mack beer at Ølhallen, Tromsö’s oldest pub.
If you are more into adventures, do as the locals, go ice bathing at Telegrafbukta beach. Warm up in the floating sauna. Give it a try! Experts say it can reduce stress and fatigue.
If your flight arrives late, do not worry, you will have time to explore the city on days two and three.
Spend the next three nights at a hotel in Tromsø.
Accomodation options: Thon Hotel Tromso, Norway, Clarion Collection Hotel With, Tromso, Thon Hotel Polar, Clarion at the Edge.
Day 2 - Whale Safari

Today an exciting excursion awaits you.
Observing cetaceans in the sea is one of our most unforgettable experiences. Imagine the adrenaline rush that comes from being next to one of the biggest animals in the world! North of Tromso, between Kvaloya and Andoya, is probably the best whale watching site in the world. What attracts the whales to Norway? The herring. During the winter, the herring that come to Norway’s coastal waters to spawn attract thousands of whales, who swim through the fjords in search of their next meal.
On today’s whale watching tour, you will have a unique opportunity to encounter these amazing animals, as well as sea birds, up close from a boat. You will be back in the city later in the afternoon, and the rest of the evening will be at your leisure. If your flight arrived late yesterday, you can explore Tromsö this afternoon.
Day 3 - Dog sledding tour

Today you will experience the thrill of mushing through Norway´s snow-covered wilderness. A must-to-do-activity when visiting Tromsö. There's no better way to see the Arctic terrain than racing across the landscape on a dog sled led by happy huskies.
Dog sledding allows you to explore off-the-beaten-track places that would otherwise be inaccessible since snowmobiles are not allowed.
Once you arrive at the dog sledding camp, you'll be briefed on the art of mushing by a dog sledding guide. You will share a sled and take turns driving and riding along the way. Feel the crisp air on your face and the power of the Norwegian huskies as they race across the snow. Do not worry about the clothing, staff will provide you with a polar insulated suit and boots. Experienced guide will lead the way on the trail and offer any instruction you may need. You will drive your own dog sled for about 90 minutes.
At the end of your journey, you will sit around a campfire and have a hot coffee, tea and a cake while the tour leader tells you more about the history of dog sledding.
Day 4 - Departure or Stay Longer and search for northern lights

If you have chosen a three-night trip then you will be traveling home today. Depending on your departure time, take the chance for one final optional excursion or spend some time wandering this cozy city center for unique souvenirs before heading to the airport. If you have chosen to extend your trip then today will be another exciting day to make your own discoveries, why not join relax in a hot tube while contemplating the northern lights dance above you.
Day 4 -7 Extended stay - Optional activities

If you have chosen to extend your trip even further then the following days will be yet another day of adventure and discovery on the fantastic Norway. Visit a traditional Sámi reindeer farm or sleep under warm reindeer skins tucked in a polar expedition sleeping bag at Tromsö Ice Domes in Tamok Valley. Other options are joining a boat cruise on Tromsø’s icy cold fjords or a guided snowshoe walk. Indeed all are unforgettable experiences.
