Day description
Arrival in Ålesund - the Art Nouveau town by Geirangerfjord

When you arrive at Ålesund Airport Vigra, relish the spectacular view of the Sunnmøre Alps, a mountain ridge in the western part of Norway. After getting your bags, it is time to head to center. Getting from the Airport to the Ålesund center is relatively easy with Airport Express. The ride takes about 20-30 minutes.
Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy some time at your leisure after check-in at your hotel. Walk through downtown Ålesund’s Art Nouveau district, built after the town fire in 1904. Sights of interest include the Atlantic Sea Park, a big aquarium, and the Sunnmøre Museum, an open-air museum with an impressive boat collection and more than 50 old houses in beautiful surroundings (entrances not included). The best place from where you can appreciate the beauty of the town is atop Mount Aksla. You can reach the summit of Mount Aksla by climbing up the 415 steps leading to the top or by driving up the winding roads that lead to the viewpoint. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of Ålesund, its harbor and surrounding islands. The panoramic views are stunning during sunset when the sky turns orange and pink.
In addition to offering stunning views, Mount Aksla also has several walking trails for those who want more adventure. These trails run along lush green forests, leading to hidden waterfalls that provide fresh drinking water.
Spend the next three nights at a hotel in Ålesund.
E-bike tour & hike to Mount Sukkertoppen in Ålesund

Warm up your muscles soon after breakfast. Dress appropriately for an active day outdoors. Wear layers, and plan for changeable weather. Today you will explore the surroundings of Ålesund on an e-bike tour and a hike up to Sukkertoppen, 314 meters above sea level. Don’t worry about the equipment; the organizer will provide you with an e-bike and a helmet. But wear sturdy hiking shoes. The surface up to the mountaintop can be a bit slippery and muddy. Stuffing a rain jacket and water bottle in your backpack is also a good idea.
You meet with the tour organizer at their center, where they will go through how to use the e-bike and a safety check. You bike 20 minutes through the city to the base of Sukkertoppen, where you will start the hike up to the mountain. It is a beautiful hike through the forest and over the broad ridge of Sukkertoppen. Once you have reached the top, you have a 360° panoramic view over the Sunnmøre Alps to the southeast, Storfjorden to the east, the North Sea west, and the city of Ålesund at your feet. Have lunch at the top.
As you ascend the mountain trail, immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Norway’s landscape. Stop and admire the spectacular panoramic views from different vantage points along the way. You’ll also learn about local flora and fauna from your knowledgeable guide, who will be with you every step of the way.
Fjord cruise to Geiranger

Starting from Ålesund, the cruise will take you along the coast and into one of the world's most famous UNESCO World Heritage sites, Geirangerfjord. You will be back in Ålesund in the late afternoon. Rest at the hotel before heading out for dinner at one of the town's lovely restaurants. We can recommend Bro Restaurant for a fantastic eating experience. Be amazed by how they incorporate local ingredients and tastes into each meal.
