The Golden Circle tour is an Icelandic classic, offering you the chance to experience some of the country's most famous natural attractions in a single day. Discover Iceland’s geological wonders at the hot springs in Geysir and the powerful Gullfoss waterfall.
The first stop is the spectacular Gullfoss, “the Golden Waterfall,” often considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. With its two cascading tiers, you can get close to the immense volumes of water plunging into the canyon below.
Right beside Gullfoss lies the geothermal Geysir area, home to Iceland’s most active geyser, Strokkur. With eruptions every five minutes, you’ll have several opportunities to witness the impressive column of water shooting skyward. Walk among bubbling mud pools and steaming geothermal springs and feel the raw power of the earth beneath your feet.
The next stop is the beautiful Þingvellir National Park, where Iceland’s Alþingi — the world’s oldest parliament — first convened in the 900s. Iceland lies directly on the rift between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, and at Þingvellir you can clearly see the rift valley created as the continents slowly drift apart. Afterwards, you return to Reykjavík before continuing on to Sky Lagoon.
After a day filled with nature, your journey ends with a visit to the modern geothermal spa Sky Lagoon, located about 20 minutes outside Reykjavík.
