Day description

Day Day 1

Arrival in Kirkenes

Kirkenes in Norway (Vetle Sevild).

Kirkenes is a small town that’s situated in the far northeast of Norway, a stone’s throw from Russia’s border. Arrive in Kirkenes and transfer (not included) to your hotel for an overnight stay. If time allows, take the opportunity to explore the town’s highlights and activities.

Visit the Snowhotel made entirely out of ice and snow. It is open all year. Even if you’re not staying there, it’s worth a visit to see the stunning ice sculptures and artwork.

If you are interested in history and culture, visit the Grenseland Museum, which provides an exciting insight into the region’s history and the relationship between Norway and Russia.

For those looking for more adrenaline activity, take a snowmobile tour or go dog sledding, both great winter activities. In summer, you can venture into the icy waters of the Barents Sea in a RIB boat and try crab fishing. You will also have the opportunity to taste the freshly caught King crab in the quay at a restaurant.

Spend the night in Kirkenes.

Day Day 2

Voyage departure

Havila Kystruten Marius Beck Dahle.

Start your day by heading to the harbor and boarding the Havila Voyages ship, where you'll stay for the next five nights. On the boat, you'll have access to roomy lounges with stunning panoramic views, allowing you to enjoy the landscape you pass by. After embarkation, enjoy a tasty dinner based on the best ingredients from flavors of Norway.

Spend the night on board Hávila.

Ports: Kirkenes - Vardø - Båtsfjord - Berlevåg

Day Day 3

Experience the North Cape towards Tromsö

North Cape in Norway.

The arctic scenery changes as the ship sails West South. In the morning, the ship will dock in Honningsvåg, a small town in Finnmark County on the northern coast of Norway. Honningsvåg is situated on the island of Mageröya and is known for its beautiful scenery and unique wildlife. It is often called the "gateway to the North Cape."

One of the main attractions in Honningsvåg is the nearby North Cape, the northernmost point in Europe. You will disembark and join a bus excursion to North Cape, then board the ship again in the next port, Hammerfest. For many travelers, visiting the North Cape is a unique experience. When you're standing at the North Cape, which is 307 meters above sea level, the sight that greets you is simply breathtaking. The panoramic view of the vast ocean seems to stretch endlessly. You might spot some sea birds splashing around in the sea below or even glimpse the northern lights during the winter months.

The final destination is Tromsö, a vibrant city known for its stunning Northern Lights displays, lively nightlife, and cultural attractions. During the winter, you can enjoy a magical midnight concert at the Arctic Cathedral, while in the summer, you can venture out on a midnight excursion in a RIB boat.

Spend the night on board Hávila.

Ports: Mehamn - Kjøllefjord - Honningsvåg - Havøysund - Hammerfest - Øksfjord - Skjervøy - Tromsö

Day Day 4

The Lofoten Islands

Svolvaer in Lofoten, Norway.

As the ship sets sail towards Harstad, the stunning views of the rugged coastline, towering mountains, deep fjords, and crystal clear waters will leave you amazed. The voyage continues towards Risøyhamn, passing through several small islands and islets, each with unique character and charm. In the afternoon, the ship will dock in Svolvaer, the capital of the Lofoten Islands. Depending on the season, you can enjoy different offshore excursions:

  • Horse riding.
  • Sea eagle safari in Trollfjorden.
  • Golfing at Lofoten Links.
  • Bus excursion to explore Lofoten.

The Lofoten Islands are a place of unparalleled charm and beauty. We're talking towering mountains that'll take your breath away, water so clear you could see a fish's freckles and little fishing towns that look straight out of a storybook. It's like nature decided to flex its creative muscles and make this place a masterpiece.

If the weather permits, the ship will enter the narrow Trollfjord, only reachable by boat or a 10-kilometer hike across the mountains. The Trollfjord is known for its narrow entrance, only 100 meters wide, and its dramatic scenery, with cliffs rising from the water. The water in the fjord is crystal clear, and the reflection of the mountains and sky creates a stunning visual effect.

Spend the night on board Hávila.

Ports: Finnsnes - Harstad - Risøyhamn - Sortland - Stokmarknes - Svolvær - Stamsund

Day Day 5

Crossing the Arctic Circle

Vega archipelago in Norway.

Today’s voyage begins in Bodö, a coastal city known for Saltstraumen, one of the strongest tidal currents in the world. From Bodö, the ferry heads south along the coast towards Örnes. Next, the ferry runs south towards Nesna. Traveling towards the island’s southern end, you’ll cross the Arctic Circle.

Another point of interest is the Seven Sisters mountain range in the Helgeland district. It has seven distinct peaks from the surrounding fjords and valleys, creating a dramatic and stunning landscape. The peaks are named after seven siblings from a local legend.

The ship will go through the Vega Archipelago and the Vega Islands. The Vega Archipelago consists of over 6,000 small islands. Many are small, called “skerries,” and too small to live on. In 2004, this place was declared a World Heritage Site because of its distinctive cultural landscape and how people have collected eiderdown for hundreds of years.

The ship will dock in Brønnøysund enough time to do some offshore activities. For instance, you can join a guided tour of the world heritage exhibition in a speedboat (only available in summer) or a guided tour up to the curious mountain Torghatten 258 msl (unavailable in winter). It is famous for its distinctive hole right through the middle.

Are you interested in salmon production? Norway is a top producer of Atlantic salmon, and people all around the world recognize Norwegian salmon for its delicious taste and superior quality. Take the chance to visit a fish farm to learn about salmon production (available all year).

Finally, the ship heads towards Rørvik, a charming coastal town on the southern tip of the Trondheimsfjord.

Spend the night on board Hávila.

Ports: Bodö - Ørnes - Nesna - Sandnessjøen - Brønnøysund - Rørvik

At Kristiansund, you can disembark and join a bus excursion on the scenic Atlantic Ocean Road (or Atlanterhavsveien). The road runs along Norway´s rugged coastline, connecting the small towns of Kristiansund and Molde. It is named one of the most beautiful drives in the world and attracts tourists worldwide.
